Café Culture: A Guide to Orange County's Best Pumpkin Spice Lattes

5 orange county cafés where you can find the perfect pumpkin spice latte (that aren't starbucks)

Pumpkin Spice Latte season is officially in full swing. With the pumpkin patches open and the weather here in Southern California hopefully starting to cool down, the need for warm, fall-themed drinks has never been more real. While Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte has been on the menu since September 5 (and is a perfectly delicious treat!), there are some other amazing OC coffee shops serving up delicious pumpkin-flavored drinks that are worth a try.

If you’re looking to branch out beyond the Starbucks PSL, here are our 5 picks for where to get your Pumpkin Spice Latte fix in Orange County this fall:

1. Portola Coffee Roasters

While you won’t find a traditional PSL at Portola, they instead offer a Pumpkin Maple Gaspar–definitely a drink for fans of espresso. The drink is not listed on the menu, but is available by request during the month of October.

Portola Coffee Roasters has locations in Costa Mesa, Tustin, Santa Ana, Old Towne Orange, Huntington Beach, and Mission Viejo. For directions and hours, please vist portolacoffeelab.com.

2. Kéan Coffee

Kéan Coffee’s PSL is a more mellow, California approach to the drink, with a perfect amount of pumpkin mixed with mellow coffee flavors. Visit either location for a latte that will warm you up when it (eventually) cools off down here.

Kéan Coffee has locations in Newport Beach and Tustin. For directions and hours, please visit keancoffee.com.

3. Neat Coffee

Neat is known for its seasonally-inspired syrups, meant to compliment drinks as opposed to overwhelm them. For the month of October, the syrup is pumpkin–perfect for all you fall and PSL lovers out there. Hot or iced, this drink is a real treat.

Neat Coffee is located in the lobby of the Wayfare co-working space at 270 Baker St. E, Ste. 200, Costa Mesa, CA, 92626. They are open Monday – Friday from 7 AM-4 PM, and Saturday – Sunday from 8 AM-2 PM. For more information, call (949) 873-6328 or visit neat.coffee.

4. Milk & Honey

Milk & Honey offers up two options for pumpkin lovers: a pumpkin latte and a pumpkin chai latte. The chai especially brings out the pumpkin flavor and, paired with delicious pumpkin bread, makes a great treat for chilly fall days.

Milk & Honey has two locations in Costa Mesa (inside the CAMP) and Huntington Beach. For directions and hours, please visit milkandhonyecostamesa.com.

5. Hopper & Burr

For those who are looking for a cold option in this Indian summer we seem to be having right now, Hopper & Burr offers up a delicious iced PSL. Yelp users claim it tastes “like a delicious bite of freshly-baked pumpkin pie”.

Hopper & Burr is located in downtown Santa Ana at 202 W 4th St., Santa Ana, CA, 92701. They are open 7 days a week from 7 AM-7 PM. For more information, visit hopperandburr.com.
